Cool Golf Art

About the Artist

Let's discover the passion behind the upcycled golf art, where discarded golf materials find new life as stunning works of art.

What inspires your upcycled golf art creations?

Like most creators, my inspiration comes in many different forms.  I think it all began growing up in a village of artists outside of Santa Fe, New Mexico.  My mother is a weaver, my father is a builder and they both always expressed a freedom of creativity which rubbed off on me.  Also, the internet and its plethora of amazing, talented artists helps to inspire me on a daily basis.  Art is no different from the game of golf, I just want to improve and be the best I can.

Are there any challenges or unique aspects of working with upcycled golf materials?

One of the largest challenges I face when working with golf clubs is the shape of the clubheads.  No two heads are exactly the same.  The designs from manufacturers are always different and evolve from year to year.  If a set of irons has ten clubs, all of them have a different face shape as well as neck angle.  The 9 iron will have a larger surface area than the 6 iron and the degree of the hosel(neck) will be steeper.  This can make it quite challenging when piecing them together like a puzzle while constructing a ball(sphere). My goal when building is to make as few cuts as necessary and leave the clubhead intact whenever possible.

How does your personal connection to golf influence your artwork?

I’ve been lucky enough to play golf for 30 years(20 years professionally) all over the world and at some of the greatest courses.  I’ve been able to witness a huge transformation in golf equipment from the “old school” traditional style, to the latest and greatest technology.  I’m familiar with most of the material(clubheads) I work with and get very excited when I come across something I’ve never seen before.  I appreciate the design and craftsmanship it took to cast or forge each club and that helps to influence my artwork.

What impact do you hope your upcycled golf art has on individuals and the environment?

My goal is to create the “WOW” factor for people who see my art for the first time.  I want to leave an impression on them, something that they won’t easily forget. I love it when they see a piece of my work and ask me, “how did you do that??” If they think it’s cool, creative, or classy then I have succeeded. As far as the environment is concerned, I’m just trying to do my part to help out.  I know it’s only a drop in the bucket when I upcycle golf clubs but it makes me feel good.  The remainder of the material I don’t use for my art is taken to the scrap yards and recycled.

"In every upcycled creation, I transform forgotten golf treasures into timeless works of art, showcasing a profound love for the game and a commitment to sustainable creativity that resonates far beyond the greens."
